The compendium has emerged as a FOKU-project in relation to Bj\u00f8rnskov\u2019s position \u00a0as an associate Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus. The target group is mainly students at\u00a0Academies of Music, but is intended, of course, for all bassists who are interested in the topics presented in the compendium.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-129\" src=\"http:\/\/eportfolio.musikkons.dk\/wordpress\/creativebass\/files\/2012\/08\/BK-bagside-eng1-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/eportfolio.musikkons.dk\/wordpress\/creativebass\/files\/2012\/08\/BK-bagside-eng1-212x300.jpg 212w, http:\/\/eportfolio.musikkons.dk\/wordpress\/creativebass\/files\/2012\/08\/BK-bagside-eng1-724x1024.jpg 724w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/>The compendium is divided into <strong>topics<\/strong> with focus on tools which increase the student\u2019s knowledge \u00a0about jazz and improvisation, including practice techniques and practice programs. The topics are \u00a0primarily about different aspects of jazz bass playing and focus on improvisation, accompaniment, rhythm and creativity in the hope of creating a <strong>solid foundation<\/strong> and overview.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is Bj\u00f8rnskov\u2019s goal to communicate practice within improvisational music in an inspiring and \u00a0accessible way. The focus is to hold on to the music \u2013 the will to <strong>express yourself<\/strong> and have some-thing to say. -Even when things get really technical and theoretical it is important to \u00a0maintain a link\u00a0to <strong>joy, spontaneity and creativity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The compendium is meant to be a <strong>reference work<\/strong>, which provides answers to a line of the \u00a0questions that the student will encounter as a bass player and musician. \u00a0Although the focus is on jazz, <strong>the topics are essential to all styles of music<\/strong>, and hopefully lead\u00a0the student to <strong>inspired musicianship<\/strong> and towards effortless mastery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torben Bj\u00f8rnskov<\/strong> is an experienced and versatile musician working in Denmark and abroad. \u00a0\u00a0He graduated from Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with Niels Henning \u00d8rsted Pedersen as mentor and is now an associate Professor at The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bass Compendium is the first edition of a collection of teaching materials for bassists and has an emphasis on\u00a0jazz and improvisation.
