Dog vides det ikke om musikalsk genre medvirker til at forme hjernens evne til at skelne og behandle lyde hos musikere. I dette studium s\u00f8gte vi at fastl\u00e6gge musikstil og genres rolle i modulering af n<\/em><em>eural and adf\u00e6rdsm\u00e6ssig respons p\u00e5 forandringer i musikalske parametre. Ved hj\u00e6lp af et nyt, hurtigt og musiklignende multi-komponent paradigme, m\u00e5lte vi mismatch negativity (MMN), en f\u00f8r-opm\u00e6rksomheds hjerne respons, p\u00e5 seks slags forandringer af musikalske parametre hos musikere der ud\u00f8vede tre forskellige former for musik (klassisk, jazz, rock\/pop) og hos ikke-musikere. Jazz- and klasisske musikere scorede h\u00f8jere i den musikalske f\u00e6rdighedstest end pop-rock-musikere og ikke-musikere, navnlig inden for det tonale omr\u00e5de. Disse resultater stemte overens med MMN-resultaterne: Jazz musikerne viste st\u00f8rre MMN-amplitude end alle andre grupper af deltagere p\u00e5 tv\u00e6rs af de seks forskellige lyskomponenter, hvilket antyder en generelt h\u00f8jere lydh\u00f8rhed over for auditive detaljer. I s\u00e6rdeleshed fandt vi s\u00e6rligt udviklet evne til at registrere toneh\u00f8jde og glissando op til toner udelukkende hos jazzmusikere. Resultaterne indikerer at karatertr\u00e6kkene i den musikalske genre som musikere spiller\u00a0har indflydelse p\u00e5 deres evne til at percipere og p\u00e5 hjernens behandling af lydparametre indlejret i en musiksalsk sammenh\u00e6ng.
